We didn’t have a guide when we moved to Spain. Just Google, guesswork, and a whole lot of crossed fingers.

We just got some fantastic news...

Shermalyn and her family have confirmed they'll be in Spain in July 2025!! 🇪🇸 🙌

Shermalyn and Lionel live in St. Lucia with their kids, 13-year-old son Shiloh and 7-year-old daughter Havana.

Shiloh and Havana love sports. With Shiloh being one of the best soccer players in his age range on the island!

When Shermalyn first started working with us, she let us know that she wanted to move her family to Spain to give her kids the opportunity to continue exploring their passion.

And now they'll be coming to Valencia, Spain, in just a few months.

It fills us with so much joy to see them this close to achieving their goal!! And we continue working hard to make sure we can do the same for you.

We've just been approved for our visa renewal!! 😱 🎉 

This is so incredibly exciting because our next renewal means permanent residency!

And, once we become permanent residents, we will be able to stay in Spain indefinitely. 

We can't believe we are one step closer to fulfilling our dream of raising our bilingual family in Spain. It's what we've been working towards for so long. 

And it just makes us all the more passionate about doing the same for you.

While our path won't necessarily be your path, we think it's useful to share what moving towards permanent residency has looked like for us. Check it out below!

We've just finished writing out our resolutions for the new year, and we couldn't be more excited. 🥳 🎉 

In this new year, we want to:

• Welcome our healthy baby girl Sofía to the world in February! 
• Get our Spanish to a B2 level (we're at B1 now)
• Read a full book in Spanish
• Explore more of Spain (possibly Segovia, Seville, Asturias, and a couple of other places)

Like many of you, moving to Spain was once at the top of our New Year's resolutions list.

And now, as we celebrate the start of our 4th year in Spain, we can truly say it was the best decision we ever made!

We can't wait for you to experience life here, too.

However you’re celebrating, we hope you’re enjoying the holidays, spending time with loved ones, and reflecting on the past year—as well as the amazing new adventures that await in the New Year.

We are currently working on the Spanish taxes module of our course.

So, we thought it would be a great opportunity to answer one of the most commonly asked questions: "Do I need to pay taxes in Spain?" 

The short answer is most likely. 

For your first year here it will depend on what date you arrive, but from then on you will likely be doing your taxes in Spain. 

This is because the majority of visas will require you to be present in Spain long enough to become a tax resident. 

But there is one common exception!
